The large state coat of arms of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) shows a shield divided into four. Top left you see the bull's head on a golden ground, top right the red griffin on a silver ground. Bottom left is the red eagle on a silver ground, bottom right again the bull's head.

The bull's head is the heraldic emblem of Mecklenburg, the griffin that of Pomerania and the eagle that of Brandenburg. The small state coat of arms, by contrast, is divided only vertically: on one side the bull's head, on the other the griffin.

So the large coat of arms brings together symbols from the history of several regions: Mecklenburg, Pomerania and Brandenburg.
